I?m not sure if I keep lapsing or continually confused or both about special keyboard characters ? particularly where to place them. I wasn?t even sure about writing this until EzineArticles published a great piece titled The Dash ? The Tool for Informal Authors. ??creating a true dash (?) just isn?t possible. To appease dash purists ? if it?s not possible to create a long dash ? two hyphens side-by-side will suffice??

I know that editors are generally tolerant of special characters in informal pieces. But how could we be sure that a formal article we submited was rejected and our name blacklisted just because of a dumb special character error? Do you know a severe or ?extreme? editor like that?
